Digested - eating healthier reviews
Once I had children, it became more important to me that we stay healthy as a family so we could enjoy a great lifestyle while staying active too! Natalie's book is a great down to earth read that touches on the importance of healthy living and how to do it in easy ways. It also helps to know how and what to look for in our foods so we know what we are truly eating! Great read!!
There's SO much information out there on what is and isn't healthy. If you are looking for a concise guide to help you figure out what's right for your body then this is it! Natalie Gensits has done a great job of summarizing how different foods may contribute to all kinds of symptoms. Then she shares ways you can make simple steps or great leaps (whatever fits best for your lifestyle and needs) to change your eating habits and help your body function more optimally. I especially appreciate Natalie's balanced attitude of keeping diet real to life (most of us aren't full-time cooks after all). If you are feeling overwhelmed by all the health "rules" out there pick up this book and feel encouraged to begin making simple changes today.
I love that her passion shines through so much in this book. And I think it's extremely well-written with a lot of great info broken down into "less overwhelming" sections (especially thinking of someone who's just starting out on a journey to a healthier lifestyle). Her vulnerability and snippets of her own reality help people relate too. From my own research, conversations, and experience, I agree with so much of this! I love the common reaction causing foods and substitutes chart, as well as the other great reference charts. I highly recommend this book!
If you are going to read just one book on healthy eating, it should be 'Digested...' This book is easy to read and is written with humility and humor! Ms. Gensits is realistic about how the average reader will be able to improve their eating habits & doesn't intimidate with her healthy eating challenge. Additionally, I didn't feel guilty choosing not to go 'all-in' with all suggested changes to our diet. She give you realistic, easy to follow advice on how to make healthier changes in your diet. I was inspired to begin my changes with the very next visit to the dreaded grocery store the weekend after finishing the book! Thank you!!
This is a great addition to our practice library. I found it to be easy to read and a helpful resource to my patients looking to get healthy from the inside out! It would be nice to have a hard cover option as well.
Let your food be your medicine! This amazing no-NONsense book helps us all accomplish this valuable advice! The author shares with us her personal experience on how she addressed her various diet dilemmas in this practical and easy to understand book. Many of the clinical and professional books on the subject are very difficult to understand and much less apply. I know this first hand since I have a degree in Natural Health and Nutrition, myself. Natalie has taken all the wealth of information and research that's out there and has 'digested' it for us so we won't have to! As a wife and mother, I also appreciate how she shares her concerns for her family which led her to devise practical solutions for these health issues that many of us can relate to. She offers practical advice on how to avoid many of the dangerous additives and hazardous ingredients contained in most foods in today's modern world. This book is a great read with a wealth of easily applicable health information for all of us! Good job!
